“Horrifying attack”

An 18-year-old mother has been charged with the attempted murder of her 10-month-old daughter who, police said, was found abandoned and sexually assaulted in a lonely English country lane. Mrs Tina Taylor appeared briefly before Reading Magistrate’s Court late yesterday, and was remanded in custody until .January 2. She had been charged with the attempted murder of her baby daughter, Clare, and also with causing her grievous bodily harm, after the i young girl was found in an I isolated Lovers’ Lane on the outskirts of Reading early on I Sunday, by a courting couple. The couple wrapped the child in a coat, and took her to Reading Police Station. She was found to be badly iinjured, and was immediately (transferred to hospital where la gynaecologist performed an ■emergency operation. Police said Clare had been the victim of a “horrifying attack.” and began a hunt' for the attacker. Mrs Taylor was arrested, and charged yesterday after-1 noon.
