Show Gate set to win again

"Ihe Press” Special Service DUNEDIN. Show Gate and Pakistan Flight will be at restricted odds on the quinella in the Christmas Handicap. the open sprint and the second leg of the Dunedin Jockey (dub’s T.A.B. double at Wingatui today.

Show Gate, in spite of her top weight of 58kg, is the likely favourite. Ihe brilliant Gate Keeper mare has not been beaten in four starts this season. She has not raced since, taking the Stewards' Handicap and the Churchill Stakes at the N.Z. Cup meeting at Riccarton, but she is at the top of her form, which has been enhanced by the per- 1 formances of Sharda, which she beat on the two occasions[ they met at Riccarton. Pakistan Flight is living; right up to his good breeding. The winner of three of his; last four races, Pakistan Flight showed his class bv winning the James Hazlett; Gold Cup on the first day of! the Dunedin meeting and with 1 the luxury weight of 50kg he might be the one to stop Show Gate’s run of success. Of the remainder. Funny Way. Grippie, Shifnal King, Nivalis, Russell, and Flush have recent good form to recommend their chances. FIRST LEG The first leg will be on' the Dunedin Gold Cup, ini which H. A. Anderton’s runners, Mellay Vite and Brown; Satin, two impressive last-! start winners, are likely to; dominate the betting. Mellay Vite has not raced; since winning the Tapanui Handicap on December 8, but Brown Satin completed her preparation with a most attractive front-running performance at Invercargill on Saturday .

Redlo, Dmitri (which beat Town Major at Beaumont); Leyleigh (which beat Mellay Vite at Invercargill); Coorabin (runner-up in his last three races) and Grey Pride, (a close second to Town Major on the first day of the Dunedin meeting) will all have a following.
