Now $4430 to help Huntsbury
A United States Navy journalist at McMurdo Station has so far raised SI 1.3(1 for the Huntsbury Home for deprived children in Christchurch in his attempt to set a new record for continuous radio broadcasting'. Mr A. Bray, manager of the radio station at McMurdo, has been running the station since Thursday at 8 a.m.. when Ins record attempt began, according to a Navy public relations officer (Mr H. Williams). In addition to the record attempt, money has been raised for the home by a sponsored competition to find an “Ice King” and a “Snow Queen” at the base.
Miss Alexis Taylor, a scientist in the Lake Bonney iarea, won the “Snow Queen” (title. The winner of the “Ice King” contest was Mr Vin'cent Marino, an equipment for the United (States Navy, who is in his (thirteenth season in the Antarctic.
