Leyland profit $51m
British Leyland has announced a £2om increase in profits for the year, and record export sales. The chairman (Lord Stokes) said the pre-tax profit increase from £31.9m to £51.3m resulted from higher export margins made possible by the floating pound. The company’s direct exports from Britain reached £424m. Total sales for the group were £1564m compared with £l2Blm in the previous year—(P. A.-Reuter).
