Cloud stops flights

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 25. Lou' cloud and drizzle over Wellington Airport disrupted the travel of more than 1000 air passengers today. After remaining low all day, the cloud dipped to 200 feet just after 5 p.m., closing the airport for the rest of the night.

Sixteen inward and 13 outward flights were cancelled. Several passengers were taken by taxis to and from Palmerston North and Wanganui. At Nelson, four Friendship aircraft were stranded. Earlier in the day, two domestic flights were cancelled and a flight from Sydney was diverted to Auckland. A total of 86 flights were scheduled to have flown in and out of Wellington.
