Damp N.Z. Christmas
WELLINGTON', Dec. 25. Over much of New Zealand. Christmas Day was wet. A north-south belt of rain was caused by a trough of low pressure. Temperatures were normal for summer, the Weather Office said, but down slightly rm Monday’s high figures. At midday rain covered most: of the North Island except Northland, Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay. The same belt spread along the east coast from Marlborough to coastal Otago. There was little rain, however, in Buller. Westland. Fiordland. Southland or Central Otago. The slow easterly movement of the rain bell is likely to bring wet weather to the east coast of the North Island tomorrow. Holiday-makers in the rest of the country should notice a. gradual improvement spreading from I'he west.
