ILL CLIMBER FLOWN OUT

(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, Dec. 25. A young Hamilton climber, thought to be suffering from appendicitis, was lifted from the Plateau Hut, 9000 ft up Mount Cook, at 1.50 p.m. on Monday by an R.N.Z.A.F. Iroquois helicopter and taken to Timaru Hospital.

He is Mr Carl Thompson, of 1 Tow Street, Hamilton. The helicopter landed at the Mount Cook National Park headquarters about 2 p.m,, and the patient was given medical attention by Dr P. W. Law, of Twizel.

Timaru police were alerted by radio late on Monday morning that the climber had [been suffering from severe I abdominal pains. The helicopjter was commissioned from (the Air Force base at Wigiram after consultation with IDr Law.
