RECORD TO GOOD
The talented young New Brighton runner, A. Good, put on a fine performance to take first place and the record in the annual 20-mile road race from Christchurch to Rangiora last evening. Good led nearly all the way and relieved his clubmate, M. Radcliffe, of the record by nearly half a minute, with Ihr 47min Bsec. A very fit V. Sykes (Christchurch) ran a good second in Ihr 51min 39sec, and C. McLennan (Ashburton), 12 seconds further back, was third.
With about a mile to go, Good was lOsec down on the record but a fine finish put him ahead. A light north-easterly breeze j provided almost perfect! conditions for the race and the first six finished! in under two hours. i'D. G. Cameron (Baptist), obviously fully recovered from his record-breaking Sydney - to - Melbourne run, was the first veteran : (over 40) home and took seventh place in a personal best time of 2hr Omin 19sec lA.
