CA’.Z. Prett Association) TIMARU. Dec. 13 The first solo climb of tl !4000ft east face of Moun Cook has been made by Mi M. Jones, of Dunedin. The chief ranger at Mount Cook National Park headquarters (Mr B. Thomas) said today that Mr Jones had started from the Ball Hut and climbed to the foot of the face about 8000 ft and along a gully between the middle and high peaks of Mount Cook. “It is a difficult climb," said Mr Thomas.
