November food prices rose
(N.Z. Press Association) I WELLINGTON, Dec. 12. November food prices were eight points or 0.5 per cent higher than in October, according to the all foods group of the Consumers’ Price Index, released today by the Department of Statistics. November prices were thus 16.9 per cent higher than in November, 1972. The main contributors to the eight-point rise were seasonal fruit and vegetables (five points); pigmeats, including ham and bacon (one point); fish (j point); biscuits (3j points'); aerated waters and confectionery (1| points); and meals away from home (two points).
Offsetting the increases were falls in the price of eggs (six points). )
