Wasps cause collision

<X.Z. Press .Association) AUCKLAND. Nov. 25. A swarm of wasps caused a car to crash in Titirangi this afternoon, and left the two occupants stung and injured. A fireman at the scene was also stung when he went to attach a rope to the car so that it could be pulled uo a 12ft bank over which it had crashed. The accident happened about 6 p.m., when the the swarm of wasps flew into the car, as it was going along Park Road. According to ambulancemen, the two men in the car. Malcolm Buchan, of Hayford Close, Mangere, and Dennis Hunt, of Grendon Avenue, Titirangi, were stung and slightly injured. They were taken to hospital for treatment. The fireman, who was from the titirangi brigade, was also taken to hospital. Other firemen sprayed the car with water to drive away the wasps, and it was later pulled back on to the road.
