GOLD DIVER DROWNED

f.V.Z. Press Association? DUNEDIN, Nov. 19. A man was drowned in the Clutha River yesterday about a mile above the Low bum Bridge W’hile diving in the river to recover gold. He was Leslie Stewart Williams, of 5 Barry Street, Cromwell. The accident occurred at 3.15 p.m. while Mr Williams was swimming alone. He was an experienced diver, and had friends on the river bank. It is thought he might have become entangled in his lifeline from the shore.
