STORM AT TIMARU

(From Our Own Keporter > TIMARU. Nov. 18. j An electrical storm which' broke over Timaru between 7 30 p.m. and 8.15 p.m. yesterday, was accompanied by: an onslaught of hail, followed' by steady rain. The storm broke with a thunderous roar over the western outskirts of Timaru, especially the Highfield area, the drumming of hailstones lasting 10 minutes, while! sheet lightning flashed across a leaden sky. A similar storm which broke over Timaru on Fri-i day evening caused switch 1 gear in the Municipal Electricity Department’s area to be thrown by lightning—a most unusual occurrence. Power was disrupted in the March wo el area.
