s ; Christchurch-West v. Burnside o Burnside, batted first and beid gan encouragingly, two runs beie|ing scored by C. Clothier and I K. Norcliffe in its first innings, ie but West responded with three s. runs in its first innings, and e Kept Burnside scoreless in its next lour innings.

Erratic pitching by Burnside enabled the West batters to pile on the runs in the second innings, and they scored five. Two further runs in each of the third and fourth innings gave West a 12-2 lead, and it did not require its fifth innings, thus ending the game. Monowai v. Western Suburbs Monowai took the lead in its first innings, scoring three runs. Good fielding held Suburb* scoreless in its first four innings, bv which time Monowai had a 3-0 lead. W Stuart opened the Suburbs i scoring its its fifth innings. How- ■ ever. R Phillips and C. van Nieuwkerk scored home runs tor Monowai in its fourth innings, and A. Phillips scored another run in the fifth innings, giving it a 6-1 lead. S. Stewart for Burnside and B. Makinson for : Monowai scored in their teams’ sixth innings, but Monowai* lead did not require the game to co to the sex t nth inning'
