N. Canterbury cricket
Banks Peninsula scored a firstinnings win over Ellesmere in the first round of the under 23 Norman Allen trophy competition of the North Canterbury inter sub-association series. Ellesmere took the bonus points for its quick scoring. The winning team gained eight points, and Ellesmere four. Ashley and Hurunui did not play because of rain and received three points each. The draw for round two. to be played tomorrow, is:—Ellesmere v. Hurunui. Ashley v. Hurunui, Malvern the bye.
