DR SEUSS AND CAT
Among such Seussian creations as tufted mazurkas, nerkles, wungs, drum[tummied snumms and sneet- • ches, a cat is a bit of an loddity—unless, of course, he’s bigger than a child of 10, wears a tall, striped hat and owns a “moss-covered, threehandled family gradunza.” That audacious cat in his stove-piped hat comes to television in a special C.B.S. animated cartoon show on Sunday evening. Millions of children throughout the English-speaking world know and love the star of “The Cat in the Hat” as he is the hero of one of the most successful children’s books ever written. In this special, Allan Sherman provides the voice of the cat, who speaks, sings and schemes in rhyme. Other voices are provided by Dawes Butler, Pam Ferdin. Tony Frazier, and Gloria Camacho. “The Cat in the Hat” screens in colour on Sunday at 5.16 p.m.
