Boys need billets
Six crippled boys from Auckland have been given the chance to attend the Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, but five of them need billets.
The secretary-manager of the Christchurch branch of the Crippled Children Society (Mr P. A. Hickling) said yesterday that the boys, aged from 10 to 15, were being sponsored by the Murray Halberg Trust. Funds for the trust came from the annual “Sportsman of the Year” dinner, and most of the money was given to the Auckland branch of the Crippled Children Society. The boys were fairly mo bile and independent, and would be provided with escorts by the Christchurch branch for their stay fron January 27 to February 1.
