Qantas to buy more jumbos

(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, November 14. Qantas has ordered two more Boeing 747 jumbo jets and intends to buy three more in the next few years, to increase its fleet of the big jets to eleven.

The airline’s chairman (Sir, Donald Anderson) said in Auckland today that he felt: the 747 was one of the finest; aircraft flying today, as it I catered for the mass-travel,! low-fare market. Sir Donald Anderson said his airline was also keeping a close eye on developments with the Concorde, because it was a very advanced piece of technology and he saw the supersonic transport as the aircraft of the future. The Concorde had a great many problems attached to it regarding the environment, payload, and range. But he was sure Qantas would ultimately go into the S.S.T. market, and he was pleased to see that the British Aircraft Corporation was
