Not all Stale housing’

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 14. Land taken by the Government at Hamilton would be comprehensively planned to provide a balanced urban development, incorporating residential, commercial, industrial uses and recreation, said the Minister of Housing (Mr Fraser) today. ■ Answering Mr J. F. Luxton (Nat., Piako), the Minister said that only part of the 483 acres of land would be used for State rental or Maori Affairs housing. A substantial number of sections would be made available to the public on the Crown’s usual terms, which included provision for ballots. Answering further questions, Mr Fraser said the full costs of this sort of development were normally recouped on the sale of sections. The Crown would not be subject to property speculation tax nor to land sales taxes as defined in the recently approved Land and Income Tax Amendment Act, 1973.
