BRITISH ELECTION
New Liberal seat CV.Z.P A.-Reuter—Copyrilht) LONDON. NOV. 11. The Liberal Party has won the Berwick-upon-Tweed byelection in Britain by 54 votes. The seat was formerly held by the Conservative Party.
The Conservative candidate has the second highest number of votes with the Labour candidate a poor third. In three other by-elections held at the same time, the Conservatives retained the electorates of Edinburgh i North and Hove, and the traditionally Labour seat of Goven was won by the 'Scottish National Party.
I At Hove, a former New 'Zealander, Mr Desmond Willson, the Liberal candidate, j reduced the Conservative 'majority by 14,000 votes. , The four by-elections indicated a swing to minority parties. Labour losing more votes than the Conservative Party.
