The appointee’s main responsibility will be to engage I in philosophical investigations. He/She will not be required to (each formal courses. Candidates for the senior posts should have already demonstrated their capacity for philosophical research by publications of high quality. In the case of Research Fellowships evidence must be shown of research capacity though not necessarily in the form of published work or work already accepted for publication. FACULTY OF SCIENCE POSTS IN ZOOLOGY (60-AB5) There are two vacant posts to be filled at the levels of Senior Demonstrator and Demonstrator in the Department of Zoology (Head: Professor S. A. Barnett). The appointees will be required to take up duty early in 1974. For appointment as Senior Demonstrator duties may include teaching Vertebrate Physiology and Human Biology. The appointee will be expected to do research and to take part in the supervision of research projects. For appointment as Demonstrator duties will include teaching firsf-year zoology, especially the supervision of a newly introduced system of programmed learning. There will be some opportunities for research. CLOSING DATE: November 19, 1973. SALARIES: Salary on appointment to the posts will be in accordance with qualifications and experience within the ranges: Senior Fellow $14,308-$16,462 (6 x 359); Fellow $10,432-614,288 p.a. (5 x 428; 4 x 429); Senior Research Fellow $12,778$15,116 p.a. (3 x 390; 2 x 389; 1 x 390); Research Fellow $8698-$11,901 p.a. (2 X 641; 2 x 640; 1 x 641); Senior Demonstrator $7270-$8698 p.a. (3 x 286; 2 x 285); Demonstrator $5740-67015 p.a. (5 x 255). All amounts are in Australian currency; current exchange rates are approximately SAI: 63NP: 6U51.48. There is provision for annual reappointment up to a maximum of four years. . The present salary for s temporary Junior Lecturer is $4660 per annum, rising by annual increments. LABORATORY TUTOR t (Department of Zoology): Temporary. (Closing December 10, 1973.) Applicant should have completed a degree in Zoology. The Tutor will be required to assist in the teaching and management of first year laboratory classes in Zoology. The appointment will be for two vears from February 1. 1974. Salary $4660 per annpm. MAORI STUDIES (Department of Anthropology): Senior Lectureship or Lectureship. (Closing November 30, 1973.) Applicant* should be competent to teach Maori language to graduate level. In addition, training in Maori Studies or Anthropology would be desirable qualifications. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the teaching of Maori language and other aspects of Maori Studies in which he is qualified. He will also be encouraged to develop and supervise research. Commencing salary will be determined in accordance with qualifications and experience within the range $6575-$9963 per annum. B. A.
