Bartlett returns to Chch cricket
The t ormer New Zealand right-arm fast bowler. G. A. Bartlett, will definitely be playing his cricket in Christchurch this season. He will leave Blenheim shortly.
Bartlett will return to his i former club, Burnside-West-University, but at this stage ■he is uncertain in which I grade he will play. “When I arrive in Christchurch, 1 will play it by ear. II have not been training and 1 will play in the grade the j club decides to put me in,” i Bartlett said from Blenheim 'yesterday. He will be in Christchurch <next week to compete in the IMerivale-Papanui club’s single-wicket competition on October 28
Although Bartlett retired from first-class cricket in 1969, after having been selected for New Zealand to play in two tests against India in 1968, he played representative matches for Marlborough until December last year. "I have not been enthusiastic about playing in Marlborough, but it might be different in Christchurch. He said "My playing in the senior grade will depend on whether I can become fit enough to bowl.” Bartlett played senior cricket for Burnside from 1963 to 1966. He first represented New Zealand in 1960 as an 18-year-old and toured South Africa in the 1961-62 season.
