BRIGHTON BEATEN
High-scoring match
(N.Z. Press Association) „ WELLINGTON. Two goals within the first three minutes of the second half' sent Stop Out on the way to a 5-3 win over New Brighton in ( a Rothmans National Soccer League match at Te Whiti Park, Lower Hutt, yesterday. The two goals, by S. Boyland and G. Paddison, were both’welltaken opportunist efforts which! also indicated the weaknesses in the Brighton defence. Stop Out had scored first in the fourth minute, through G. Brand, before W. Quirke (27) and T. Blake (35) gave a slightly more polished New Brighton side a 2-1 lead. But Stop Out equalised just before half-time through K. Barton when New Brighton appeared able to dominate the game. Then, the tw r o early goals in the second half, followed by another from Boyland in the sixtieth minute gave tlie home side a three-goal leading margin sufficient to sew the game up. The defences of both teams continued to play insecurely, and after W. Chisholm had brought New Brighton back to 3-5 in the sixty-third minute, the result remained in doubt to the end.
