INJUNCTION GRANTED

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) WASHINGTON, August 25. A Federal judge has ruled that filling station owners can increase petrol prices and ignore controls imposed by the Government from September 1. More than 165,000 petrol station operators had sought the injunction against the Government’s cost-of-living council, claiming that phase four of President Nixon’s anti-inflation programme discriminated against them because the new price controls did not apply to small businesses—those with 60 or less employees. The ruling, if not overturned on appeal, will permit filling stations to pass on to motorists the full increase in their costs.
