Well-known wool trade man dies
Mr John C. Marshall, who died suddenly in Christchurch yesterday, aged 19, was highly regarded in the wool trade in New Zealand and overseas.
Mr Marshall was a former vice-president and a committee member of the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and has represented the association and New Zealand wool interests at meetings of the International Wool Textile Organisation. Born in the United Kingdom he came to New Zealand at an early age. He was educated at Christ’s College, and during World War II i 'served overseas in the Air
Force. After training in Canada he was a navigator in Beaufort bombers in Europe.
Mr Marshall was managing director of John Marshall and Company, Ltd, a firm of woolbuyers, woolbrokers and wool merchants that was established by his father, Mr F. Marshall. Mr Marshall was keenly ; interested in racing and was (involved in the ownership of 'horses.
