Dr J. D. Stewart, the con-i vener of the aCnterbury selection panel, summed; up the future succinctly:; “The players will probablyl feel for about a week 1 ; that the bottom has i fallen out of their lives.; But we have got to get: a positive attitude going. We have a good pro-
gramme ahead of us, with plenty of strong; opponents, including England.” Will the England match be Canterbury’s main target now that the shield is gone? “Our aim.” said Dr Stewart, i deliberately, “is to start winning matches.”
