Important day for P.M.

The Prime Minister (Mr Kirk) will officiate at two important public occasions in Christchurch today — the opening of the Christchurch Transport Board’s new bulding, and the laying of the foundation stone for extensions to Canterbury Museum. But it will also be an important family day for Mr Kirk and his wife—they were married 30 years ago, on July 17, 1943, in the Vauxhall Road Anglican Church in Auckland.

There is not likely to be much spare time tomorrow for family celebrations, however. It will be business as usual for the Prime Minister. After his Christchurch engagements, he will have to return to Wellington for appointments, including the evening sitting of Parliament.
