Kidnapping in Rome
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) ROME. July 13. Police and security agents in Rome are searching for J. Paul Getty 111, aged 16, the grandson’ of the American multi-millionaire.
I The youth’s mother, Mrs ‘Gail Getty, told the police that she received an anonymous telephone call yesterday informing her that her son had been kidnapped. “We have kidnapped your son,” the caller said. “Start gathering your money together now for a ransom. We will call you later.” Mrs Getty said that she could not discuss the ransom demand. She said that her son disappeared from their home last Monday, and she denied earlier reports that he had disappeared two weeks ago. A friend of the family said that she believed the youth’s father, Mr J. Paul Getty Jun., was in London at the moment. He and Mrs Getty are divorced; she lives in a luxury apartment in Rome.
At the fortified Tudor mansion of Mr Getty senior, near London, his aides declined to comment on the [reports from Romp.
