More time in Britain

The Mayor of Christchurch (Mr N. G. Pickering) has found that he can learn more of benefit to his city by study in Britain and so has omitted several places from his overseas itinerary.

Mr Pickering will not. now visit Moscow, Leningrad, and Tokyo on his way home, but travel instead via Amsterdam, Munich, and Rome.

Mr Pickering advised his office yesterday that he had had many invitations to visit boroughs and municipalities in the United Kingdom which had not been in his original itinerary. It would be of benefit to Christchurch if he studied the problems of refuse collection, the use of motorways, libraries, and other localbody matters.
