Beech forests
Sir, —One authority for Mr P. Blanchfield’s enlightenment is the Air Conservation Commission of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, which is not a member of the New Zealand Clean Air Society.— Yours, etc., D. W. KING, Hon Secretary, N.Z. Clean Air Society. July 11, 1973. Sir,—l think “Vulcan’s”
letter the most progressive and sensible I have read. The country has taken much from the West Coast, but we can’t keep taking without replacing. I too have wondered why these thousands and thousands of acres of cutover derelict land could not be replanted. This would be [a real progressive step in ; restoring prosperity to the I Coast bringing plenty of work for all. Surely the Government could finance a scheme to reforest this land which seems unsuitable for use as farmland.—Yours etc.. ROBIN. , July 12, 1973.
