Canterbury v. Iran?

Canterbury has been named as the probable second opponent for the Iran national soccer team during its short visit to New Zealand next month. Mr J. Cowie, chairman of the New Zealand Football Association, confirmed in a Press Association report from Wellington last evening that Iran is expected to play Canterbury in Christchurch on Wednesday, August 8, and New Zealand in Auckland on August 12. The president of the Canterbury F.A. (Mr T. C. Gottermeyer) said last evening: “All we can say at this stage is that we have neither accepted nor declined the match. Negotiations are certainly under way but nothing is yet confirmed.”
