Talks on welfare
The Prime Minister (Mr Kirk) and local members of Parliament will meet the executive of the Canterbury Aged People’s Welfare Council on August 2 to discuss aspects of aged welfare, it was announced at a meeting of the executive. It was also announced that : the council’s chairman (Mr : P. N. G. Blaxall) has been appointed a member of the : advisory board of the Inter- ’ national Senior Citizens’ i Association. It is the first such appointment in Aus- ■ tralasia. The association. : which has its head office in ; Los Angeles, has a membership of about 20 countries. i Dr C. G. Riley, physician in charge of geriatric medi- ■ cine with the North Canterbury Hospital Board, has ! been appointed vicechairman of the executive of the Aged People’s Welfare | Council.
