Paintings for Embassy

Abstract landscapes of the Titirangi Hills and Muriwai Beach will hang in the New Zealand Embassy in Peking if the recommendations of the Ambassador elect, (Mr W. B. Harland) are accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr Harland was in Auckland recently, looking at paintings and drawings in two galleries. The Ministry has already approved one of his selections — “Muriwai Beach,” by Colin McCahon. Another McCahon painting of! the Titirangi Hills will go forward for approval. Works by Charles. Toll and Ralph Hotere will also be submitted. If the works are approved and bought by the Ministry,! they should be hanging in Mr; Harland’s office when he ar-j rives in early September. '
