Abductor took sick baby

(N.Z Press Association—Copyright)

LONDON, June 27.

An agonised mother today appealed to the kidnapper of her sick baby, aged six weeks: “At least give me some hope.’’

Mrs Shirley Bullen, aged 26, added this in her personal plea to the kidnapper: “If you are afraid to take my baby to the police, to a hospital, or to a doctor, then just leave her in a church, pin a note to her, saying who she is and asking the person who finds her to take her straight to a hospital.”

, Mrs Bullen’s concern is intense today because her 'daughter, Kristen, had by dawn missed six doses of the idrug she needs under a course of treatment designed to prevent convulsions which might cause brain damage.

Scotland Yard however, has said that reports that Kristen could die if deprived of the drug for two days are now believed to have been exaggerated. Kristen was kidnapped on

Monday, when the family doctor. Dr Edward Orebiyi, was quoted as saying that she might die within hours if deprived of the drug. Detectives leading the search for the baby will reconstruct the abduction later today, with the mother's help.
