Canadian visitors

Sir,—As my visiting professorship comes to an end and I must take my family back to Canada, I would like to express our appreciation of your beautiful country and the hospitality of its people. We have fallen in love with New Zealand and have every intention of returning. We find the quality of life here superior to that we have experienced elsewhere, and particularly appreciate the public attitudes towards beauty, culture, discipline, and love of the outdoors. After a walk on the Heaphy Track, and visits to Milford and the Routeburn, we are convinced that these tracks, along with the beech forests, constitute unique assets that will be increasingly appreciated abroad as environment there continues to deteriorate. Our hope is that New Zealanders will realise what precious assets these are and will maintain them unspoiled for future generations.—Yours, etc., D. G. HUBER, Lincoln College. June 22, 1973.
