Railway has clear lead in badminton
Railway maintained its lead In the Canterbury A grade badminton competition w-hen it easily beat Canterbury No. 2 by six matches to two in the fifth round at the Skellerup Hall on Saturday.
Although Railway is unbeaten in the competition, the team will have to sustain its form as the two strongest challengers, North Beach and Lincoln College, were in convincing form and gained two easy victories.
Railway only needs to lose its grip on a match and the competition will be thrown wide open. In the feature clash of the fifth round, Canterbury No. 1 scored a vital win over the previous top team, Knox, to move up the ladder.
Knox was previously first equal with Railway, although the former team has not had the bye, but after losing to Canterbury five matches to three, Knox moves down to second equal place.
