The biggest flying display seen at the Royal New Zealand Air Force base, Wig- ' ram, since 1967 — when 50 • years of flying from the airi field was commemorated — i will take place this after- - noon. A crowd of at least 20,000 is expected. i The display will mark the ■ 50th anniversary of the for- ' mation of the New Zealand ' Permanent Air Force. Between 2 p.m. and 3.23 p.m. the public will see the “Red Checkers” Harvard aerobatic team, 17 Harvards lin formation, an Orion, a Skyhawk. four Strikemasters, an Air Tourer, an Iroquois helicopter and a Dakota, flyling in support of a parachute ‘demonstration. Two Sioux helicopters will [“waltz” to the music of the [“Blue Danube" played by the /Band of the R.N.Z.A.F.. ' which will be present through , the day. ; From 10 am. to 4 p.m. j many of the aircraft will be ; in the static display on the ' airfield. In addition various ( training schools and hangars ' will be open to the public. In the event of wet weal ther, the open day will be oostponed until tomorrow, r Notification of this will be ? given over radio stations.
