Ploughing final line - up
The 22 men who will compete in this year’s national ploughing championships at Glenbrook, South Auckland, on Friday and Saturday next week include three former champions — last year’s winner, J. C. Kyle (Seadown), who was subsequently eighth equal in
the world match in the United States, A. J. Wallace, champion in 1968 and 1971, who was runner-up in England in the latter year, and K. J. Taylor, national champion in 1970. There will be eight Canterbury ploughmen in the contest. The finalists, with the district where they qualified shown in parenthesis, are:— G. A. Matheson (Dipton), A. R. Johnston (Wakanui), W. J. L. Winter (Rakaia), K. J. Taylor (Waimea Plains), N. j. Sheat (Tokomairiro), J. G. Pascoe (Timaru), P. D. Carter (North Canterbury). 1. W. Miller (Taieri), J. Thornton (East Otago), P. 7. Dixon (Hinds), G. S. Baird (Southland champion), G. T. Carter (Geraldine), J. C. Kyle (Lincoln), G. R. Gifford (Blenheim), I. M. Jordan (Nelson), J. P. Stalker (CourtenayPaparua), N. G. Wymer (South Auckland), E. L. Hunt (Takaoau). G. G. Stuart (Reporoa-Rotorua), A. J. Wallace (Waikato), R. Lukies (Manawatu), and C. R. Agnew (Wairarapa).
