ULSTER BLAST
Six dead 33 hurt <N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) COLERAINE, June 13. Ulster security authorities today blamed the outlawed Irish Republican Army for the 2001 b car-bomb that shook the small market town of Coleraine, 30 miles from Londonderry, yesterday, killing six persons, four of them women. Eighteen of the 33 persons injured, among them four children, are in hospital, and the condition of one man is said to be critical. Security forces unwittingly steered shoppers into the path of the explosion: an anonymous telephone call had given a false location for the bomb. The paramilitary Ulster Defence Association today blamed British security forces for “allowing the weakened I.R.A. to rebuild, and to regroup.” The bombing brought the number of people killed in Northern Ireland’s troubles to 822: explosions have caused 223 deaths. A photograph by cable appears on page 3.
