Chilled lamb arrives
I (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. The first commercial shipment of New Zealand chilled lamb and beef has been delivered to London within 24 I hours of arriving at Liver'pool, according to a statement on behalf of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, the port agency. The chilled meat was in perfect condition, a cable from the company said. The consignment of meat, nearly 100,0001 b of lamb legs and loins and beef hindquarters, was made by two New Zealand meat companies, W. and R. Fletcher, and /Auckland Farmers Freezing Co-operative. . Borthwick’s air-freighted 12 | cartons of squat-posture chilled lamb which reached London on May 15. A spokesman for the company said that the meat had been well received. “It should have a very good market during the De-cember-May period.” he said. “There is a shortage of homej killed lamb during that 'period.”
