Manslaughter verdict

(N.Z. Press Association)

AUCKLAND, May 25.

A jury in the Supreme Court at Auckland today found Christian Edward Fredrike Borgolte, aged 23, a carpenter’s labourer, not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter. Borgolte had pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife, Faye, aged 23, at their home in Mangere, on January 16. He was alleged to have hit her with a rolling pin, and then stabbed her with a household knife. Doctors said he could have been in a state of automatism. Mr P. A. Williams and Mr E. P. Leary appeared for Borgolte, and Mr D. S. Morris for the Crown.
