J. W. Smolenski had a highly successful day on Saturday, driving four whiners, three of which were members of his own team. He is shown here winning the President’s Handicap at Washdyke with Gay Rose, which beat her stablemate. Speedy Guest (rails) by a nose. Kentucky Hanover finished third, ahead of Ron Hanover (rails) and Shakey Valley. Smolenski also won with Sir Pelver and Jondor Hanover at Washdyke, and Arapaho at Auckland.
