PROGRAMMES
I intended merely to add my voice to the number of viewers dissatisfied with present television programmes, particularly the preponderance of British productions, and the surfeit of English soccer and sports. However, in “The Press” a letter signed B.P. expresses so eloquently [and comprehensively the thoughts of so many owners lof television sets (not necesisarily viewers any longer) ithat there is simply nothing [to add to B.P.’s remarks; just a moment of envy at the ability to put thoughts into words so accurately. The new sports programme “Sporting Life,” has to date been 100 per cent British, sport — that soccer again, and Rugby league, which gives credence to the belief I that the Broadcasting Cor[poration is programmed by [British, staffed by British, land entirely designed for the British immigrant population of this country. N.M. [Surely you have no* forgotten the excellent Rugby [profiles on Messrs J. J. Stewart. and J. L. Sullivan which “Sporting Life” screened in its first two programmes’ And the yacht racing study had a strong New Zealand flavour.—J.K.B 1
