Howarth out for two
(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON
The New Zealand cricket team wil be without the services of its top slow blower, H. J. Howarth, for at least two matches.
At Lord’s on Saturday morning, he was loosening up with the others and in try-] ing to stop a ball with his! foot, he sprained his left ankle. At first it was feared he! might have chipped a bone! and he was taken to hospital for an X-ray. But it was established that he was! suffering from only a severe! sprain.
Howarth would have played in the present match against! the M.C.C. The mishap occurred 20 minutes before the start. R. E. Redmond was not! considered for selection. He! was told by an eye specialist' that he needs two contact! [lens in place of the unsatis-! [factory one he has been trying to use.
New lenses are being made for him.
