B. Spassky (Russia) the 'former world chess champion, [was defeated in the second round of an international tournament at Dortmund and then held to a draw in the third round, on Saturday. Spassky, who lost his world title to R. J. Fischer last year, was beaten by H. J. Hecht (West Germany), and drew with another German, U. Junstowicz. The Russian shared third place with two other players. J. Dueball (West Germany) shared the lead with Hecht, each having 2| points.
