Fire brigade competitions

Teams from 40 fire brigades, from Kaikoura to Waimate, will take part in this year’s fire drill competitions of the Canterbury Provincial Fire Brigades’ Association, to be held at Lyttelton in November. Mr N. Miles, chief officer of the Fairlie Volunteer Fire Brigade, was elected president of the association at its annual meeting at Lyttelton last week.

The Lyttelton Volunteer Fire Brigade will be host for the association’s functions this year, as part of the the brigade’s centennial celebrations.
