Lebanon has taken a major step to restore normal conditions with the withdrawal by Dr Amin al-Hafez of his resignation as Prime Minister.
Dr Hafez, a newlyappointed moderate, resigned on May 8 during fighting between the Lebanese Army and Palestinian Commandos. He succeeded Mr Saeb Salam, whose Government : resigned after the Israeli (raid on Beirut on April 10 in ’which three Palestinian commando leaders were assassinated.
Life in Lebanon has begun to return to normal after the accord reached between the Army and the commandos.
