Car won by woman
The winner of first prize, a Fiat 500 car, in a mystery- [ envelope appeal held in Christchurch on Friday was Mrs G. S. Stevenson, of Fendalton.
The second prize, a trip for two to Surfers’ Paradise, Queensland, was won by Mrs B. Westbury, of St Albans. The winning envelope was not bought until 8 p.m., but Mrs Westbury bought hers on Friday morning. The appeal was in support of the Marylands school and the Marist Rugby Club. About 120,000 envelopes, worth $60,000 in gross funds for the organisations, were sold. There were 170,000 envelopes on sale, the total value of the prizes being $200,000.
