Cleary Cup to Kenrick Lady
The speedy bitch, Kenrick Lady (seaforth King-Miss Lean), which had been unplaced In the final of the New Zealand Breeders' Stakes on Easter Monday, gained some compensation for her owners, P. Smith and T. Adamson, when she won the Cleary Cup at the greyhound equalisator meeting at the Marshland Domain on Saturday. Kenrick Lady finished strongly on the inside to win decisively from the early pace-maker, Blue Stream. Jetsam also finished boldly to gain third place, ahead of the unfortunate Hello Hottie. Hello Hottie was leading in the final when the mechanical hare broke down and the race had to be re-run. Both maiden flats were won impressively by the promising Smooth View (The SmootherMoss Patches). In winning the first heat, Smooth View recorded the very good time of 26sec.
