Niesewand’s admission
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) LONDON, May 7. The Rhodesian journalist, Peter Niesewand, writes in the “Guardian” today that in moments of “senseless anger” during his 72 days of confinement in Salisbury he plotted the deaths of Cabinet Ministers and their families, but that such feelings for retaliation passed in a day or two. But, he continues, Africans who have now spent almost 10 years in detention without trial in Rhodesia will one day doubtless be among the black men ruling the country. Mr Niesewand says that ordinary white Rhodesian citizens should have no fear of being victimised by a future black government in Rhodesia, but that if he were the Rhodesian Prime Minister (Mr Smith) or the Minister of Justice (Mr Desmond Lard-ner-Burke) he would leave the country when an African government took over.
